Top 3 Places to Fish in the Grand Junction Area!

Posted: May 24, 2018 by Step Beyond Media

Who doesn't love packing up the coolers and taking the family out for a nice day on the lake?  Why not add fishing to the mix!
Here are our top 3 fishing spots around Grand Junction.

1. Highline State Park

Head up to the northwest area of Grand Junction to hit two beautiful lakes (Highline Lake and Mack Mesa Lake). In these lakes you can catch Carp, Largemouth and Smallmouth Bass, Catfish, Crappie, Perch, Bluegill, Rainbow Trout and more!  If you want to make a trip out of it, go to Highline and enjoy camping, fishing, hiking, and boating!

2. James M. Robb Colorado River State Park

If you are a mountain biker, this is a great place to go! Enjoy the world-class biking in Fruita and then go south and off of Hwy-340 you will see this beautiful state park which offers camping, fishing and picknicking! This is a great place to get some Largemouth Bass and Bluegill!

3. Glacier Springs Picnic Area

This is a popular fishing spot for Brook Trout, Cutthroat Trout, and Rainbow Trout!  Glacier Springs Retention Pond and Mesa Lakes is a beautiful area with great hiking trails (we suggest South Mesa Lake or Lost Lake).
